Your First Massage at Oazis: The Welcome Ritual

A lot of people feel a little unsure before their first massage. What do I wear? Do I have to talk? What happens after? At Oazis the visit follows a simple ritual, the same every time, so you can stop thinking and let the hour be yours.

Arrival: a cup of tea first

You are welcomed at reception and offered a cup of tea before anything begins. There is no rush. Take a moment to sit, breathe, and leave the street behind you.

Payment is made at reception before the massage, by card or in cash, so that afterwards there is nothing left to do but rest.

A short conversation, at your pace

Your therapist sits with you for a moment to ask how you feel, where you carry tension and what pressure you like. Some guests like to talk; others prefer to say very little. Both are completely fine. We follow your lead.

If something should be avoided, such as a recent injury or a sensitive area, this is the moment to say so.

During the massage: quiet is part of the treatment

Once the massage begins, we keep the room calm and quiet. You are welcome to speak whenever you need to, for more or less pressure or simply to say how you feel, but there is no need to make conversation.

Silence helps the mind slow down. Thoughts come and go without needing attention, a little like watching a play from the back row, and the body follows. Most guests say this is when the massage really starts to work.

Afterwards: a moment before the city

When the massage ends, there is no hurry to get up. Your therapist checks how you feel and you can take a few minutes to come back gently before stepping out into Lisbon.

It is a small moment, but it is often the part guests remember: being looked after from the first word to the last.

What to wear and when to arrive

Come as you are. For oil massages you undress to your comfort level and are always covered with a towel; for Thai massage, Thai yoga and chair massage you stay fully clothed in comfortable clothes.

Arriving five minutes early gives you time for the tea without cutting into your massage. We are at Rua da Madalena 219, in Baixa-Chiado, open every day from 10:00 to 22:00. Walk-ins are welcome, and you can also book ahead on WhatsApp.
